Due to the remote nature of the site scope and cost management is critical to the success of the project. JDSi ensured personnel were on hand at short notice to resolve construction issues in a proactive and timely manner. This ensured the construction works were not delayed, thus minimising any unforeseen budget expenditure.
As the site is located on an old dunal system, careful consideration was given to the bulk earthworks strategy. This was done to minimise the volume of cut to fill and to reduce batter heights and slopes wherever possible. The end result was a balanced cut to fill operation with successful integration into the surrounding landforms.
JDSi successfully negotiated with Horizon Power to ensure the site could obtain a suitable power supply for both the immediate and long term development.
In addition to power, JDSi worked closely with Water Corporation to ensure the installed water and waste water system was fit for purpose and responded to the unique challenges associated with Coral Bay. This included obtaining non-standard approvals to utilise plastic pits instead of traditional concrete pits in order to reduce ongoing, long term maintenance issues associated with corrosion of concrete in Coral Bay.
Due to the location and previous use of the site JDSi ensured that the construction works were overseen by Heritage Spotters from the local Indigenous Corporation. This ensured that no items of Heritage value were disturbed during the works and had the added benefit of providing employment to the local Indigenous Community.
