JDSi’s role on the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct was to act as LandCorp’s Principals Representative to manage and mitigate risk on this high profile project and to drive the project team to a successful completion.

Key Considerations

  • Working as the Principal’s Representative on behalf of LandCorp.
  • High level oversight of the Contractor with regards adherence to OHS and Contract requirements.
  • High level oversight of the Superintendent with regards adherence to Contract requirements.
  • Monitor progression of works and report on Principal’s potential risk items.
  • Provide a point of contact for wider stakeholder communication.
  • Proactively drive the project team to meet tight deadlines for clearances and titles.

Project Challenges

Principal’s Representative Role

JDSi were the main line of communication between the contract team and LandCorp. This role required us to maintain frequent and clear communication between all parties to ensure risk items were well understood and effectively managed.

In addition, JDSi performed the role of Chair at weekly Project Control Group Meetings to ensure the progression of clearance activities was being efficiently managed. This process included mapping out and programming land acquisitions, authority negotiations and clearance and title processes.

Site Inspections

JDSi maintained a presence on site, upwards of 3-4 times a week. This site presence allowed LandCorp and the Superintendent to have a clear understanding of current construction activities and ensured that any potential delays and / or risks were mitigated early. At every site visit JDSi reported back to LandCorp via a formal Site Report and an OHS Checklist.

Service Authority Negotiations

JDSi, through our technical understanding and well-developed relationships with numerous service authorities, provided advice in relation to installation methodologies and sequencing to minimise construction risks and delays.

Stakeholder Engagement

JDSi provided LandCorp, and the wider project team, with advice and methods to improve stakeholder engagement and ensure the community who frequent the adjoining transport and hospital facilities were kept well informed of changes to pedestrian and vehicle routes.
